Hello

edit

Hope you are well. I've been following some of your lists. I was curious to see if you would be interested in working on building a list of yachts that have been/are being seized due to sanctions? This would include all yachts, regardless of length, and sail or motor. This is a growing trend, and yachts seem to be the face of the effort. I suspect it could grow into a lengthy list, certainly worth creating and maintaining until the sanctions come to an end, (or they run out of yachts to grab).

I have already made note of at least eight yachts (so far) on on the List of motor yachts by length, we could also use the list of 60 to 75M boats that was saved in the talk page archives (should be quite a few in that range), and perhaps even some from the List of large sailing yachts, such as Sailing Yacht "A"). For now, I've created a re-direct to the ships I noted on the m/y length list. I do think a decent sized list could be created, and along with the right prose, (and a maybe a different page title), this could be a worthwhile article. Anyway... lemme know. Cheers - wolf 05:15, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Thewolfchild:, I think that would be a great idea and could be a very interesting topic to other people aswell. Though I do think it is important to make a clear distinction between seized, arested or detained. The traditional media uses those terms sort of interchangeable which they are not. I don/t know if you're familiar with eSysman's Youtube channel, in case you're not, he has explained it a couple of times in his videos. But yes, I do think this could be a worthwhile article indeed. Although unfortunately I don't think I will have much time to work on it in the short term because of my dayjob (which funnily enough, also has something to do with yachts). Ciao - User:102Legobrick 20:16, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've added a paragraph with some info and links to the note section (for now, but once all this is over with, I think it should come of that page). I agree it would be helpful to differentiate among those terms some. (And I do watch eSysman... very good content). Anyway, if you find some time and think you like to work on a article about the seizures, let me know. Cheers - wolf 20:53, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay.. so I've been thinking about it and came up with this table. Maybe there is a better way of doing this, but in my defence I made it fairly quickly. I used M/Y Amadea as an example, as she has been one of the first major yachts to have actually been seized. I don't think builders and country of origin for the yachts are not as important for this list, but could be added. The table name could be something like: Yachts seized
Name Owner Status Photo Refs
Date Action
Amadea Suleyman Kerimov 04 May 2022 Arrested Picture of yacht
27 May 2022 Seized
Let me know what you think. Ciao - User:102Legobrick 07:26, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Looks good. Perhaps there could be additional cells for "country" (that seized the yacht), "released" (back to owner), "auctioned", (with date) "new owner", (if available), and "auction price" (if available). Also, you have any ideas for the page title, and the lead? No rush, the yacht grabbing and ensuing litigation will being going on for quite some time to come. Cheers - wolf 12:35, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think it would better if you do something like this:
Name Owner Status Photo Refs
Date Action By Result
Amadea Suleyman Kerimov 04 May 2022 Arrested Fiji EXAMPLE Amadea was auctioned of on 1 July 2022 for $100.000.000 to (name new owner if known) Picture of yacht
27 May 2022 Seized United States
01 July 2022 Auctioned United States
When you do a cell for every item a lot will stay empty because not every yacht will see the same actions taken against it. As for a title maybe something along the lines of Yachts impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and as a lead perhaps the most basic explanation of what is going on with the war in Ukraine and why these yachts are sanctioned (basically to hurt the rich people around Putin so they will turn their backs on him). Ciao - User:102Legobrick 20:58, 01 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Thewolfchild:, Following our discussion I went ahead and created a page, Yachts impacted by international sanctions following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Feel free to add or change stuff. Ciao - User:102Legobrick 19:54, 03 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dutch Defence Materiel Administration moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Dutch Defence Materiel Administration, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:30, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thousands separator

edit

Hi, English Wikipedia uses commas (","), or whatever you call it, as a thousands separator, not points, per MOS:DIGITS. The ship certainly displaces 16 thousand, 500 tons (16,500), not 16 and a half tons (16.5). See this source which you presumably used when writing the article. Note that the headline uses the comma: "The Italian Navy plans to purchase three new 16,500-ton amphibious ships". I actually did check the sources before making my corrections the first time. Please don't revert this again without discussing it first. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 22:22, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
