Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Klavdia Fomicheva, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Glider. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Race (human categorization) are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Please stick to discussion of the article, not the subject, ie sources, NPOV issues or OR issues, formatting, external links, etc Doug Weller talk 19:34, 27 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing

edit

Regarding this, this and this, I agree that the child mortality thing was off-topic, but AlterNet does not fall under WP:Unreliable sources. You can argue that it's a biased source, but Wikipedia allows biased sources; see WP:Biased sources. And if you are going to replace one source with another, you should make sure that the replacement supports the text; that's why I reverted you here. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 22:22, 13 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I see that the source you used as a replacement does support the text; I reverted myself. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 22:27, 13 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Looking at AlterNet some more, I suppose it can be validly considered an unreliable source. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 22:30, 13 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

High-performance sailing

edit

Hi, Эйхер. You may be interested in reviewing High-performance sailing#Apparent wind sailing, which entails high-speed downwind sailing with the apparent wind ahead of the sailing craft, which necessitates tacking (not jibing) downwind! Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 21:41, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, HopsonRoad! Unlike the "Theory" subsection in the article about wind powered vehicles, this article makes perfect sense to me. May be it needs some more clarity for laypersons, but for an aerospace engineer this is enough to get basic understanding of sailing with apparent wind ahead. Эйхер (talk) 07:35, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I wrote both passages. Any help that you can render will be most welcome! Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 12:25, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!

Thank you, Эйхер, for your insightful suggestion on what needed to be corrected at Wind-powered vehicle#Rotor-powered. I appreciated your calm and constructive engagement, which led us to a good solution. Your insight on the fact that the faster medium provides the power to be applied through the slower medium was key to a better explanation. The ground-based or balloon-based observer scenarios clearly were not helpful. I look forward to collaborating, sometime in the future! Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 23:30, 5 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your question in Talk:Captive Orcas#Ecotypes and nutrition

edit

See List of captive orcas tables for details of each individual's type. Your concerns are justified. Historically, it has been possible to persuade mammal-eating types to eat fish, but one worries about humans being in close proximity to them in the water.

An outstanding tale of a captive fish-eating orca named Haida (I) persuading mammal-eating orcas to eat fish can be found from p. 276 of Jason Colby's history, ISBN 9780190673116
