Hello there
After more than ten years away from wikipedia, and having forgot both my user name and password, a recently incident related to a biased article have brought me back [[1]] [[2]].
However - as I am convinced that my objectives here were achieved as: 1) I have collaborate with the discussion in the articles’ talk pages with referenced arguments 2) I have pointed out and tried to fix the wrongdoings of a sock farm, and (most importantly) 3) I have called the attention of wikipedia community to what was going on in the above mentioned articles - I feel it is time to retire from wikipedia.
That is because my sole interest in coming back here was to raise a flag regarding the past state of affairs of these articles (lack of reliable sources, biased and bold statements, sock puppetry, etc.) and, due to my affiliation with one of these Parisian universities and due to the believe that wikipedia should not need vigilantes, I think I should better leave.
My last edits were to revert some of the biased edits of the sock puppets (there are many things that still need to be done). However, due the long-lasting history of disputes regarding Parisian universities within English wikipedia, and also given the fact that many of these universities are envisaging fusions among one another as well as the symbolic use of the marks “Sorbonne” and “University of Paris” to promote themselves among international audiences in the months to come, I think this long-lasting feud is far from its end.
I suggest more experienced users should keep track of these pages and raise the flag whenever a user starts editing articles saying that a given university is the “main inheritor”, “the re-establishment”, etc, of the old University of Paris/Sorbonne. This seems to be the rule at French wikipedia, which, naturally, seems to have a stronger control regarding the content that is put forward on the pages of their own universities.
I hope that this retirement is for good, and that the wikipedia community will take good care of itself.
UPDATE (28 January 2018): As for today, I am still reverting some of the POV edits of Sock puppets in relation to the Parisian Universities, including brand new unsigned POV pushes (probably from the same blocked user).
