Michael Jay Morrow (born September 1, 1965), is an American born musician, songwriter, guitarist, and producer. Born in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, he was raised first in Wildwood, New Jersey before his family moved to Colchester, Connecticut, where he lived from 1969 to 1979. In the winter of 1979, his family relocated to Ocean City, New Jersey, where he graduated from Ocean City High School in 1983. He began his professional career shortly after relocating to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1986, where he had an arranged audition with Robert Hazard. As a lead guitarist touring funk, psychedelic, and jambands, he is best known for his skills in the genre of Grateful Dead-style music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and accomplished vocalist, performing in a wide variety of venues from coffee houses to stadiums.
Michael has performed with many top rock, reggae, and jamband artists including Bob Weir, Derek Trucks, Ben Harper, Joan Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band, Jeff Buckley, David Grisman, David Nelson, Merle Saunders, Bruce Cockburn, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Marshall Tucker Band, and Jimmy Buffet.
In addition to years on the road, he is also a prolific producer, studio engineer, and music teacher.
