History
editInternational City Theatre, founded by Shashin Desai [1] in a 99-seat black box theatre on the campus of Long Beach City College, grew to become the official resident theatre of the City of Long Beach CA. [2] The theatre moved into its 862-seat semi-thrust auditorium at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center in 1988, phasing in at first with some shows in the larger space and some in the original. [3] [4] Desai's wife and longtime general manager Caryn Morse Desai assumed the post of artistic director when Shashin retired in 2011. [5]
