Tutorial 3

Activity 1

https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Mastotermitidae

Talk page:

Rated as Stub-class on the quality scale

Rated as Low-Importance on the importance scale

In order for this page to be classed as an A-class article the organisation of the article would need to be improved. It is currently lacking any headings or subheadings. There is only an introductory paragraph and a chronological order of fossils. Another way to elevate its rating would be writing about the mastotermitdae in a more holistic manner, perhaps linking it to the series in a more explicit way. There does not appear to be any expert knowledge contributing to this article and this would be overcome with contributions based on scientific research journals and peer reviewed sources. It’s stub rating is a sign of the article lacking description. More detailed accounts of the mastotermitdae would ensure it is not in this category.

Activity 4 – tagging

https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Healthism (Links to an external site.)

Added references to some paragraphs using the citation tool.

I also deleted some unnecessary words that did not add anything to the informative nature of the article.

There were some issues however that would be difficult to repair as knowledge in this area was not extensive from what I could find in terms of academic articles.

Tutorial 4

https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Buckingham_Palace

-      Professional standard and well written – the spelling and grammar is impeccable

-      It expository rather than making a judgement. The tone is informative eg "Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhousebuilt for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years."

-      The lead is approximately four paragraphs covering the key points and back ground information without being too specific

-      3 sections: History, home of the monarch and modern history. These are organised into subsections that are easy to navigate for the reader

-      12 photos/pictures featured that are relevant to each section. These are helpful for readers to identify and understand the content of the article.

Tutorial 8

Review of good quality article

Camille Saint-Saëns

- This article is well written

- It fills a gap in terms of notable artist in the Romantic era

- The lead is clear and understandable

- Portraits of the subject are included and they are informative and relevant. also includes samples of music compositions

- Uses verifiable sources such as academic articles and media clips

Review of poor quality article

Selfie

- Fills a gap? This is questionable since it is unrelated to any other topics about media etc.

- It includes relevant media such as a selfie, and historical documents in the history section

- The article is well contained and also links to many other relevant pages such as TMZ.

- This article is not completely unbiased or neutral as in the lead it says selfies "are for vanity" - this is a subjective tone.
