Chesterfield Hotel ...
The Chesterfield Hotel is a hotel in Malkin Street, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Built by William Cavendish, 7th Duke of Devonshire in association with Charles Manners, 6th Duke of Rutland and a Mr Arkwright of Sutton Scarsdale, the hotel opened on Saturday 6th October 1877. It was designed to take advantage of trade from the nearby Chesterfield railway station of the Midland Railway and Great Central Railway, which at the end of the 19th Century were located close together on the North-East side of Chesterfield.
The hotel originally had 16 bedrooms. The current building has 73 rooms, function rooms, a restaurant and leisure facilities. It is currently operated by Metro Inns, owned by Irish-born businessman, Patrick Doherty.
