EmmerdaleFan2001

edit

My name is EmmerdaleFan2001, I am 23 years old and I have been editing Wikipedia articles since May 2023. Since then, I would say that I have improved massively as an editor.

My Interests

edit

My interests are primarily music and television, however I love to get involved in amateur dramatics and musical theatre. I also love steam trains. My favourite TV shows are Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which I have been watching since them since I was 18 and 19 respectively. I have a very eclectic taste in music and my long-time favourite bands are Queen and Genesis, but at the moment my absolute favourite band is Porcupine Tree. My favourite album is Fear of a Blank Planet, which features my favourite song, Fear of a Blank Planet. Progressive rock is my favourite genre of music and I collect vinyl records. As an amateur actor, I have participated in productions of Our House, Anything Goes twice, an adaptation of Aladdin as a pantomime and two Gilbert and Sullivan operas of The Pirates of Penzance and Patience. As a steam train enthusiast, my favourite locomotives are the LNER Class A4 engines, such as Mallard and Sir Nigel Gresley, as well as Flying Scotsman and Duchess of Hamilton.

Pages I Like to Edit

edit

As a huge fan of Soap operas, I love to edit articles about the four major British soaps Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks. I joined Wikipedia with the intention of expanding articles regarding soap characters. One article that I wanted to expand when I first joined was List of Coronation Street characters introduced in 2021 by adding more character sections. When I first started, and until very recently, I would try and include as many characters as possible, but I had to learn that all content must be backed with a reliable source and that character sections must include real world information and character development, including quotes from actors and producers regarding the characters' castings and storylines or even awards they may have won for their roles, not just plot. I have also recently reverted many of my older edits that weren't so good based upon the criteria I have described. When an opportunity comes, such as a character's casting has been announced on websites such as Digital Spy, I like to take the first opportunity to create a section. However, in the past week, I will only do so if the article consists of the criteria listed before. Other roles in other soaps are not relevant to the character in that particular soap at the time, unless say they have been referenced and joked about in the casting reports, note Darryl Parkins from Corrie, who was played by Paul Loughran, who was famous for playing Butch Dingle in Emmerdale.

Sources I Like to Use

edit

As someone who likes to edit articles about soap characters, I like to use the following websites as they are reliable sources: Digital Spy, Radio Times, Inside Soap, Manchester Evening News, Leeds Live, Daily Mirror and Liverpool Echo. Exclusively for Emmerdale articles, I sometimes use Emmerdale Insider.

My Future as an Editor

edit

My New Year's resolution for 2025 is to only make edits to pages if they follow the criteria I have mentioned in my Pages I Like to Edit section. This year [2024] has been a very prolific year for soap operas such as EastEnders and Hollyoaks for introducing new characters, more specifically those who have sections to themselves in the 2024 articles. In 2025, I would like to start writing articles on individual characters, such as John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) from Emmerdale and characters such as Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood), Ethan Williams (Matthew James-Bailey) and Dave Chen-Williams (Dominic Power) from Hollyoaks. I always like to take the first opportunity to create sections in articles, such as I have done in List of EastEnders characters introduced in 2024 so I shall continue to do so throughout 2025 and beyond. I do hope that 2025 will be a prolific year for all four soaps as I do love to add as many characters as possible.

Also as an editor, I would like to create articles on songs I like that don't already have an article, such as songs by Porcupine Tree. The songs I would like to create articles (depending on what sources I can find) are: Radioactive Toy from On the Sunday of Life, Up the Downstair from the album with the same name, The Sky Moves Sideways from the album with the same name, and Dark Matter from Signify. Furthermore, I would also like to create articles for the following songs from Stupid Dream: Even Less, Don't Hate Me, Piano Lessons and Pure Narcotic as well as these from Lightbulb Sun: the title track, Four Chords That Made a Million and Russia on Ice, as well as Buying New Soul from Recordings. Others I would like to create are: Blackest Eyes, Trains, The Sound of Muzak and Drown With Me from In Absentia as well as Arriving Somewhere But Not Here from Deadwing, Anesthetize from Fear of a Blank Planet and Normal from Nil Recurring.
