Tavitian was born in Constanţa, Romania to Armenian parents and graduated the Academy of Music in Bucharest. He plays piano solo, as well as with Orient Express septet and with Black Sea Orchestra. Creativ is the duo formula with Corneliu Stroe (drums and percussion).

Musicians he performed with: Johnny Raducanu, Cserey Csaba, Mihai Iordache, Anatoly Vapirov, Alexander Balanescu, Edi Neumann, Hanno Hoefer, Jimi El Lako, Mario Florescu, Ivo Papazov, Floros Floridis, Wolfgang Puschnig, Corneliu Stroe, Jürg Solothurnmann.

Much of his music is ethno-jazz, free-jazz and blues.

1978-1987 initiates a jazz club focused on recordings listening sessions where he presented albums of jazz giants worldwide. The club was hosted by Constanta Library where he was working at that time.
