Cezary Baryka
editYeah, this is ridiculous. One of the most prolific Poland-related content creators, who is editing quite uncontroversially, seems to have somehow became "block on sight" for... what, exactly? Speedy deletion nomination of Absheron Hotel
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Absheron Hotel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Epeefleche (talk) 19:16, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- The redirect of the page in question addressed the issue.--Epeefleche (talk) 08:26, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
The article Igreja de Fiães has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Page is a Portuguese-titled duplication of existing content that is already elaborated: Church of Fiães.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 01:30, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:PoulReichhardt.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:PoulReichhardt.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Kathmandu
editHi there! I would like to see Kathmandu as a featured article. We need to add a lot of links, verify the data and add good pictures. About main image, I wanted to have a montage. However, I don't have photoshop installed in my system, so had to keep the pic of durbar square. I don't think picture of the whole city is a good idea. It will just appear as a concrete jungle without any landmarks. I tried taking pictures myself, but couldnt get a nice one. The skylines/panaroma that we have are hideous and do not represent any landmarks. If you can upload any other panaroma pic, please do. I am writing the history section now. In the meanwhile, could you please create a collage consisting of File:KathmanduDurbarSquare.jpg, File:Durbar Square 2010.jpg, File:SwayambhunathAtNight.jpg, File:IMG 0361 Kathmandu Bodnath.jpg, File:Kathmandu palace.jpg, File:Shanker.jpg, File:IMG 0483 Kathmandu Pashupatinath.jpg and File:Hanuman Dhoka1.jpg ? Thank you. --Eukesh (talk) 17:31, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Just saw your message as I saved the ancient history. You can go ahead with the history. What about the collage?--Eukesh (talk) 18:00, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks about the history part. I am not against panorama pic. But, we need to have a good picture of city in our collection. Here are some examples of good panorama pics of Kathmandu-
but we do not have even a single panorama of Kathmandu that is close enough. If we want a good article, just going to the top of a hillock or a building and clicking the concrete jungle should not count! Thanks. --Eukesh (talk) 18:22, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- I can work on this, buit it will take me a few days. OK if I crop the top image so it shows less of the blue sky (looks more like a panorama that way)? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:54, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Olivier Martinez
editNot seeing the rationale of removal of the 'personal life' section of this BLP. Is multiple RS & MSM cited, and relevant. Have reinstated and asked editor to take it to talk but I am seeing a lot of recent activity where this particular 'contributor' won't discuss changes and also, of occasion, claims non-existent consensus. Several editors have noticed this, especially in respect of Chris Moyles, and a block warning has been issued in this case. The OM wiki will need attentions, it seems? --82.41.22.244 (talk) 22:17, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Editor has reverted and left a very odd edit summary with a fabricated personal attack thrown in for good measure. I have reverted and asked them to take it to talk (again). --82.41.22.244 (talk) 09:05, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, now the c word comes into mind. Olivier Martinez is known for his relationships and womanizing more than his acting!!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:49, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed he is. Looks like being a repeat of the Chris Moyles scenario but HW did get slapped down enough times (and a block threat) for him to eventually retreat. Most likely the same vigour will need to be shown here. --82.41.22.244 (talk) 13:27, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- He has a point about writing about every small fling anyody has and is unsourced. But he is removing information about long term relationships which is sourced to multiple reliable sources and is such common knowledge in the media world it looks bizarre to not mention it. Martinex is currently known more for being the boyfriend of Halle Berry than anything else.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:52, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Agree totally (as is obvious, I imagine!). If it's unsourced, insignificant gossip then of course it comes out, but HW seems very confused, very militant and oblivious to consensus and policy application. It's a worry, although more people, thankfully, seem to be noticing his recidivism. Guaranteed he reverts on his next visit. --82.41.22.244 (talk) 19:49, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Help !
editHello Dr. Blofeld,
I've tried to create the Location map of Côte d'Ivoire (Kigezo: Location map Côte d'Ivoire) on Kiswahili Wikipedia (missing here), with the following code :
{{# switch: {{{1}}} | = Jina Ivory Coast | top = 11 | bottom = 4 | left = -9 | right = -2 | image = Ivory Coast location map.svg | Image1 = Ivory Coast relief location map.jpg }} {{Location map / Info}}
It gives the following error message :
Expression error: Unrecognised punctuation character "[" _N_ Expression error: Unrecognised punctuation character "[" Expression _E_ error: Unexpected <operator Expression error: Unexpected <operator
Can you help me, please?--Zenman (talk) 13:26, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
Ask User:Plastikspork♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:15, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Zenman (talk) 21:58, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) what you saw was normal. you will always see an error like that in preview mode. once you save the page, then reload it, make no changes, and save it again, and the error will go away. the problem is that the location map/info template won't work until the template is created, but once it's created, then resaving it, will rebuild the info in the template. I went ahead and made it for you, but you may want to translate the English into the native language, and make sure it works. Frietjes (talk) 22:39, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Hôtel Meurice

Will you please be so kind to help me with two above mentioned issues?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Russian districts
editHappy New Year, your evilness! Just wanted to let you know that I am almost done with Irkutsk Oblast and have created an Ivanovo Oblast template for you at Furmanovsky District. Those are also going to be district-specific the same way Irkutsk Oblast was. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 13, 2012; 15:37 (UTC)
Will you have time to do it this weekend? It's OK if you won't, but it'll help my planning for next week if you let me know. Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 19, 2012; 21:39 (UTC)
- Well, one needs to take breaks every now and then. I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's blackout :)
- Thanks for helping with the districts, by the way. It probably seems trivial, but it actually does help me quite a bit. Won't complain when they are all done, though :) Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 19, 2012; 21:50 (UTC)
The refs for these districts are district-specific, but I'll have to actually create them as I go through the articles. If you could comment the refs out (same way you did with Irkutsk Oblast]], the article will display normally, and I'll take care of them once I start working on them.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 20, 2012; 16:48 (UTC)
- Works for me. Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 20, 2012; 16:58 (UTC)
- I see how it would be interesting, but even compiling such a list is quite an undertaking in itself! We are currently missing articles on ~16,000 selsoviets, ~20,000 rural settlements (although those mostly overlap with the selsoviets), ~150,000 rural localities, hundreds of urban municipal formations, and ~300 city districts. And that's only those which currently exist; the number of historical entities is easily triple that number. Scared yet? :)
- Anyway, for a more practical answer to your question, if you get an itch to create something, feel free to peruse the lists in this cat. Unlike other missing stuff, these at least are already incorporated into the navigational structure, so when a new article is written, it is automatically in the right place and no additional maintenance overhead is piled up. Will that work for you?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 20, 2012; 17:29 (UTC)
I've replied on my talk page, since now there are more than the two of us involved in the thread.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 20, 2012; 18:00 (UTC)
Not a problem; I have plenty of other things to occupy myself with while waiting for these :) Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); January 26, 2012; 18:01 (UTC)

Good job on Chiclana de la Frontera; it is such an improvement over what was there previously. I've done some copyediting, and added a bit. All paragraphs are sourced now; but I will try to add even some more later today. Will get to both of them tomorrow for sure. If you have the inclination, Lucile Saunders McDonald is >1500 char but the long quote in the lead has got to go, and the whole of it could use some polishing; if you feel like a doubler, there's plenty available on Zola Helen Ross. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:57, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Let me know when you've finished translating this and I'll polish it up. Alternatively, as I can translate into perfect English as fast as Ican type, I could do it, but it won't be today. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk)
Thanks, but I think Gerda will look at it .♦ Dr. Blofeld

- I looked but just dropped the details of history and conflicts in a comment for the time being, instead got recipients over, hundred new red links, but so many blue ones. I didn't have the heart yet to through some over board, - German theater people are likely less notable in English than in German, and even in German some are red. If you want to polish the translation, great! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:39, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I've been sick since the weekend. Got put on an antibiotic and cough suppressant yesterday. Will get some of this content written today. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:26, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Much better... thanks to the antibiotics. Good job on Dimlands! I've added a bit more, but it needs another copyedit because of the pd. --Rosiestep (talk) 06:51, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Tresilian Bay, you beat me to it! LOL. Started Robert Nicholl Carne, if that one interests you. Will work on his sons and also A. Sey tomorrow. Btw,thanks for all the noming. --Rosiestep (talk) 07:11, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
I am impressed by the article. Very impressed, in fact. But I am no judge of GA lists, having never tangled with them. I have looked at the criteria, and as far as I can see the present list ticks all boxes, but as I say, I'm not an authoritative arbiter. May I recommend bouncing it off User:Brianboulton, who is an expert on certain areas of exploration and is a most accommodating reviewer. Tim riley (talk) 19:01, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- There's no such thing as a GA list, as lists can't be GAs. It looks like a very nice article though, and the place to take it is WP:FLC (there's no equivalent WP:GLN). Malleus Fatuorum 15:11, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh I see, it goes straight to FLC. Surprised there are no GA lists..♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:37, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Haha, we have nominated it at FLC, but it failed (unfortunately). Actually it is a great list, but only problem are the references (many of them seems to be unreliable). But you must thank User:Greyhood for his amazing work on that article. If you want to know why there is no GL, you might want to read this thread :). --♫GoP♫TCN 17:41, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

I think I owe you an explanation and most importantly tell you the truth
editGreetings. I hope you are enjoying good health. Listen, I know I have not given you the pictures yet (as I promised you ages ago). Perhaps, you may be thinking that I am lazy, irresponsible (I mean man bad things) but that's not the case, I assure you. Though you may find me very helpful, happy and enthusiastic on Wikipedia, my personal life is something I would not even wish for my enemies. It is kind of complicated. My mom is ... (well, I don't have the correct word) kind of a complicated person. Though I am 18, there are many things I cannot do without asking her. Anyway, I talked to my dad and he told me he will come home early today (Yes, he works even on Sundays) and then we will go take your pictures. Trust me, I am not lying... I am trying my best. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Friedrich von Keller (diplomat).You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. The article Carl August Thielo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Still no sources, despite being tagged since July 2009.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:28, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
