Hi, my name is Brett Hudson Matthews. I'm interested in rural poverty in the developing world, and how to build genuine banks for poor people, so they can create their own wealth. For example, stuff like:
- the evolutionary dynamics of private sector organizations,
- organizational networking,
- adaptation of accounting and control systems to oral communities,
- the evolving frontier of rural microfinance,
- financial co-operatives and rural poverty,
- the economics and anthropology of rural villages, and
- action research.
Except for densely populated places like Bangladesh, microfinance hasn't done well at reaching rural communities. The tools of microfinance require a lot of fixing if they are to reach the world's 850 million rural poor who earn less than US $1 a day.
I live in Toronto, Canada.
