About BlackMarlin
editI've been a member of Wikipedia since 2008. I mainly contribute to articles with minor edits and typo fixes. This makes me (I have only just learned the term) a Wikignome, I guess.
I also help out with military history and technology pages, as well as pages on English and Irish literature. Originally from Northern Ireland, I'm now in Scotland at the University of Aberdeen. I have done two Masters degrees, one on English Literature (my dissertation was on 'Biological Warfare explored in 'The Stand', 'The War of the Worlds' and 'Dracula' as a metaphor for Spiritual Conflict) and another in Irish and Scottish Studies (for which my dissertation was on 'Displacement in the poetry of Louis MacNeice'). I am currently undertaking a PhD in English, specifically on violence in the poetry of Paul Muldoon. This is a special project run by the Research Institute of Irish and Scottish Studies and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Aside from academia I enjoy reading and writing for my own amusement and have recently completed my second novel. I also like drumming, walking, swimming, and movies. Oh, and old-school rock music. Any academic office seems better when AC/DC is played thunderously loudly within it...
