New template (under construction)

edit

AthleteTimeline is used to summarise the seasons or major events of an athlete's or team's career or participation in a regular series of events, which are documented elsewhere on Wikipedia.

Usage

edit

The template may be used by using the following basic format

{{User:Bamkin/AthleteTimeline
| sportSeries =
| debutYear =
| result1
| result2
| result3
   ...
| retired =
}}

Parameters

edit
Parameter Required Description
sportSeries yes Defines the sport series or series of athletic events.

The parameter and capitalisation must match the Wikipedia pages for that series

e.g. sportSeries=Tour de France

e.g. sportSeries=Formula One season (note the capitalisation to match the Wikipedia pages)

debutYear yes The year of the athlete's first full or half season

e.g. debutYear=1980

athleteName no The name of the athlete as it should display in the template output

e.g. Valteri Bottas or BOT or Car number 77

If the parameter is blank, no name or link to the athlete page is displayed

athletePage no The name of the Wikipedia page on this athlete

The default is the athleteName provided

result1 yes Results are expressed as a series of special words:

HalfSeason Athlete participated in part of the season.

P3 Athlete took third place overall.

P2 Athlete took second place overall.

P1 Athlete took first place overall.

Break Athlete did not participate in this season or event, on a break or due to injury.

(All special words begin with a capital letter)

result2,

result3

...

result25

no Formatting is the same as result1. Each result is separate by a vertical bar (i.e. as a separate parameter).

For example:

HalfSeason|Season|P3|P2|P1|P1|Break|Break|Season|P3
