About me
editMy main field of expertise is science particularly chemistry in which I got a PhD in 1996 at the grand old age of 28.
I am also very interested in history,(especially military and religious history), geography (especially countries and climates) and astronomy. I lived in several countries in Africa whilst growing up and I have travelled around a big chunk of the world centred on Europe.
- The furthest west I have been is: Albuquerque in south-western USA.
- The furthest north I have been is: Cape Wrath at the north-west edge of Great Britain.
- The furthest east I have been is: Semporna in eastern Borneo (Sabah).
- The furthest south I have been is: Wild Coast in the former Transkei of South Africa.
I started editing Wikipedia in the September 2007 because I think it is a great concept, and a source of endless fascination — also a cure for insomnia (sometimes). I love unexpected details and I really don't like partiality and articles that pretend to be innocently informative when they are disguises for someone's pet prejudices and most of all I look out for articles that reflect fashionable conventional wisdom and ignore awkward or inconvenient truths.(Sorry — no pun intended there!)
I came to the UK after I finished university and my first job in London was [wait for it] with an encyclopedia publishing company! Outside of Wikipedia, my interests are primarily in playing (but not following) sport like tennis and basketball and above all—all kinds of music.
