Summary
editJunior at Drake University. I plan to go into family law with a focus on mediation and children's advocacy. This semester I am taking a class on global youth studies and am looking forward to widening my thoughts and ideas about the youth in other cultures.
Updated Project Proposal
editI have recently changed my topic from Commercial sexual exploitation of children, to the human trafficking in Georgia (country). This page is lacking a lot of proper citations, as well as any mention of youth or adolescents in this category.
I will be changing my topic to making adjustments dealing with youth sex trafficking in the country of Georgia, making a separate category for that on the existing page for Georgia, while also including some citations and edits where they are needed in order to help the page become more holistically updated and accurate. This page is currently the bare bones of 2011 research, and therefore could use some major renovation on a topic that I am interested in researching and writing about. Hopefully in my research I will be able to provide links, statistics and facts, as well as legal attempts to defuse this ongoing problem, in the realm of children sex trafficking in Georgia.
My sources will be recent statistics, as found on our campus library database, as well as news articles and updates about the current trends of children sex trafficking. I will also be using Chapter 4 of Andy Furlong’s book, Youth Studies. I would also like to focus on what is currently being done legally to deal with this issue as Georgia is a Tier 1 country in regards to human trafficking. Based on this I will be looking at Geogia’s legal documentation regarding child trafficking and what is being done about it in the global community. All of these facts will hopefully provide awareness to those who are reading about the reality of the human trafficking problem that occurs in countries all over the world.
