Goodwin Forest

edit

Removed this from the list of State Forests. All properties designated as "State Forests" are operated by the NC Division of Forest Resources (under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources). Goodwin is managed by the NCSU Forestry School. Savagemutt (talk) 01:06, 23 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is there any reason to include the words "State Park" or "State Recreation Area" for each name? Most nav boxes omit these kind of repeated words for brevity (i.e. Townships in county nav boxes, or see {{Protected Areas of Pennsylvania}})? Ruhrfisch 13:42, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know the reason. I think that the names should be shortened for the reasons cited by Ruhrfisch Dincher 15:11, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Shortening the names sounds fine to me. I didn't really have much of a reason for placing the whole names when I created it. Zanter 18:31, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much - I was also wondering about making the top of the box read "North Carolina State Parks and Recreation Areas" to describe both kinds better? Ruhrfisch 03:29, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The title has been changed. Dincher 04:08, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Historic Sites

edit

Do you guys think it would be good to add the Historic Sites to this infobox? Historic Sites I was trying to think if I should add it to this one, or create it's own InfoBox for Historic Sites. Zanter 12:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have also been working on the Pennsylvania state parks and historic sites and there are two seperate templates.

Template:Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and Template:Protected Areas of Pennsylvania I think we should be them seperate. I don't know much about the NC historic sites, but many of them may simply be buildings and little else, not really park. Dincher 20:13, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, made them seperate Template:Historic Sites of North Carolina Zanter 01:56, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've been thinking about this issue for awhile, and I've come to the conclusion that some, but not all, of the State Historic Sites should be added to the infobox. My rational is as follows:

  • Many of the NC State Historic Sites are in the State Nature and Historic Preserve. This preserve is special provision of the state-constitution's article 14 sec 5, and all components of the preserve, except the State Historic Sites, are already in the infobox.
  • All of the State Historic Sites which I have visited are park-like and have grounds (some with ten's of undeveloped acres), except for those not a part of the State Nature and Historic Preserve. (Granted, I have not visited them all.)
  • Some of the State Historic Sites were once NC State Parks. For example, Town Creek Indian Mound used to be Frutchey State Park.

Therefore, I'm going to be bold and add all the State Historic Sites which are components of the State Nature and Historic Preserve. –Sparkgap (talk) 04:32, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
