New enough, good length, well-cited, neutral. I prefer ALT0 for the hook—the only real issue is that the sentence beginning "Lebel also defended an IIHF decision excluding ..." doesn't make sense to me. Hameltion (talk, contribs) 14:56, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

During the 1960s, Canada and the IIHF had substantial disagreements over who was classified as an amateur player, versus a professional player. Canada often used former professional players in these events who no longer had a professional contract, and where reinstated as amateurs. The sentence context talks about Lebel going against popular beliefs in Canada regarding the timeline of reinstating amateurism, that is by September 1st, the typical start of a hockey season. In other words, players who didn't make it past professional tryouts in August, would become amateurs again. The context is part of the larger reason why Canada withdrew from IIHF competition in 1970, and the basis for the 1972 Summit Series. Does that help? Flibirigit (talk) 15:38, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
