Gun Runner (horse)
edit- ... that Gun Runner (pictured) won the 2017 Whitney Stakes with another horse's shoe caught in his tail? Source: "The win attracted further attention on social media because Gun Runner ran the final half mile with a horseshoe caught in his tail; a shoe from Cautious Giant flew loose just as Gun Runner was starting his move." https://www.paulickreport.com/news/breeders-cup/lucky-rabbits-foot-gun-runners-extra-horseshoe-brings-additional-intrigue-whitney/
- ALT1:... that Gun Runner (pictured) would have run in the first Pegasus World Cup had it not been for a quarantine due to an equine herpesvirus outbreak at the track where he was stabled? Source: "Gun Runner was stabled over the winter at the Fair Grounds, which was quarantined in January after two horses tested positive for the neuropathogenic strain of the equine herpesvirus. The connections of Gun Runner arranged to enter the horse in the inaugural running of the $12 million Pegasus World Cup on January 28 in what would have been his seasonal debut, but Gulfstream Park officials refused to allow him to travel to the track despite a negative blood test for the virus, as the horse had not been tested using a nasal swab." http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/219290/gun-runner-likely-out-of-pegasus-world-cup
- ALT2:... that Gun Runner (pictured) held the highest number of points on the 2016 Road to the Kentucky Derby? Source: "Prior to the 2016 Kentucky Derby, Gun Runner ranked first on the 2016 Road to the Kentucky Derby prep series rankings." https://web.archive.org/web/20160525201243/http://www.drf.com/news/kentucky-derby-2016-point-standings (the original now redirects to the 2019 rankings, thus the archive link)

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: While the article had numerous changes building it toward GA status, there are no disagreements or edit warring. Article is sourced and NPOV. Plagiarism check yields result of 51%, but checking reveals most of that is legitimately duplicated quotations. Remainder is unavoidable duplication of phrases. I would opt for the original hook; its originality makes it far more interesting than the alternatives. The illustration is beautiful, sharp, and properly licensed. QPQ status accepted in good faith. The article is GTG. Recommend lead position on Main page because of photo.Georgejdorner (talk) 21:31, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm relatively new to DYK and didn't realize this until recently, but I noticed that there are a few submissions in the special occasion holding pen that are being saved for the article subject's birthday. Gun Runner's birthday is March 8 (just under two weeks from now). Is it still possible to save this for that date? Aspening (talk) 06:22, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
