Elmo Hope

edit
  • ... that Elmo Hope survived being shot by New York police to become an influential jazz pianist?

  • GA article, and definitely long enough, neutral, and sources are properly cited. For the hook, pretty straightforward, no case of close paraphrasing, and cited with appropriate sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syfuel (talkcontribs)
  • There seems to be a problem with the citations - they don't link through properly to the reference giving me enough information about the newspaper to confirm verifiability. The cites use {{sfn}}, but as far as I know, Harvard citations work with surnames, not newspaper tiles, so you need last= or name= in the {{cite newspaper}} tag. One solution is to replace the tags with the standard ref tag using {{rp}} to specify the pages, but IMHO that looks clunky. Anyway, as soon as the formatting is fixed this will be good to go. What's the best solution? I'm not sure what "they don't link through properly to the reference" means; searching using the titles works (in proquest, for instance). There's no author given for the newspaper articles, so none can be added. I'm new to this, so you may have to spell out what the problem is before I can address it. • Basically, I clicked on the reference for the shooting, going to the 1940 New York Amsterdam News piece and nothing happened, because the author of the news piece was missing. I've fixed up the references so this is now good to go - assuming good faith that the NYAN piece verifies the shooting claim. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:04, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
