Career

edit

Shivappa's career in the industry started with the role of assistant director for a TV channel in 2007. He then acquired the positions of film section head and programming head.[1] Shivappa founded 9 Thots Media Solutions, an advertising agency and event management company that hosts film awards and audio launch functions.[citation needed] He then moved into film production.

Shivappa started his production company Tarun Talkies and debuted with the Kannada language film Rose[2] in 2014, starring Ajay Rao and Shravya in lead roles.[citation needed]

Shivappa is a fan of Shiva Rajkumar.[citation needed] He had pitched the project of Mass Leader in 2014 to Shivrajkumar and received approval on the venture. Mass Leader featured a cast including Vijay Raghavendra, Loose Mada Yogi, Gururaj Jaggesh, Ashika Ranganath, Sharmiela Mandre and Prakash Belawadi. The movie directed by Narasimha and co-produced by Hardik Gowda went into two and half years of pre-production alone and included an 18-day shoot schedule in Kashmir.

Shivappa teamed up with director Hari Santhosh to produce the sequel to Victory.[3] The name of the sequel was retained.[4] The film received a positive review from Indian Express who wrote, "Victory 2 - A sequel that offers four times the entertainment".[5] The song "Naav Maneg Hogodilla, Namge Baglu Thegiyorilla" by Arjun Janya was featured in the film. Victory 2 stands as one of the successes for Sandalwood in 2018 crossing 50 Days.[6]

Shivappa is producing Chiranjeevi Sarja's next film titled Khaki with debutant Naveen Reddy.[7][8] After Khaki, Tarun reunites with Sharan once again for Navneeth’s upcoming directorial film, 'Choo Mantar,' which features Chikkanna and Aditi Prabhudeva in the lead roles. The first look of the movie was released by Crazy Star V. Ravichandran and the trailer was also released in February.[9][10]
