Clean up

edit

11 Nov 2006 - my first attempt at a clean-up of the page. I will return to complete. --Edward Buxton 23:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removed reference to Camp David a/k/a Naval Support Facility Thurmont as "Shangri La", a name used for a decade or so and more than fifty years ago. Moreover, the link points to the movie.

This is cut and paste from their official site. That doesn't seem very helpful 214.13.163.133 (talk) 15:33, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

WHCA unit awards

edit

The last sentence under Role says that WHCA received a Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), but the PUC is only awarded to combat units and WHCA has never been a combat unit. DA Pamphlet 672-3, Unit Citation and Campaign Participation Credit Register, 29 January 1988, page 102 (page 106 of the PDF) does not list a PUC for WHCA. It does list two Meritorious Unit Commendations (MUC) and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award (JMUA). The second MUC is the one that covers the dates of Nixon's visit to China (February 21-28, 1972). However, the text of that MUC citation does not specifically mention the China trip, and in fact covers everything that happened during the period of 1971 to 1973.

Recommendation: Under Role, delete the entire last sentence starting "Richard Nixon awarded the agency..." and replace it with "The Agency has received two Meritorious Unit Commendations and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award."
