Talk:Wave-piercing hull

Conventional hull (USN destroyer)

edit

When the destroyer I served on (DD-789) was hitting the sides of waves in stormy weather, being below decks, far forward, was like riding a high-speed elevator with its control system gone haywire. Acceleration was hard to judge, but might have been as much as 0.5 G.

(She displaced about 2.500 tons lightly loaded; was 390 ft long, iirc.) Regards, 66.92.74.189 (talk) 08:08, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
