Parish church and parish

edit

More information on this would be useful. According to the pref. to Martin's History ""The area to which this history refers is that of the ancient parish of Wath near Rotherham. This included ... the ... parishes of Brampton Bierlow (with West Melton), Wentworth, half of Thorpe Hesley, Hoyland St. Peter, Hoyland St. Andrew, Elsecar, Swinton, and part of Kilnhurst."--Pref.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 01:28, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Photo

edit

This needs a photo if anyone can come up with the goods. Either Montgomery Square or up near the church would probably be best. BaseTurnComplete (talk) 11:45, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are a few on the Geograph project here or here that can be used. If you want one of these images and require help then drop me a note on my talk page. Keith D (talk) 12:37, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done. The Market Cross image is particularly nice.BaseTurnComplete (talk) 21:39, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

"west" Yorkshire?

edit

Wath is in South Yorkshire, not West Yorkshire. I live there, so I know this. It's right in the middle of South Yorkshire, at least half an hour away from West Yorkshire. Can someone correct this please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.6.224.165 (talk) 13:54, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you read the article it says it is in South Yorkshire but historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire which is correct as South Yorkshire did not exist before 1974. The article does not mention West Yorkshire. Keith D (talk) 17:13, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

And how are you pronouncing Wath?

edit

Is it Wath as in path (short vowel), or woth as in wash? Francis Hannaway (talk) 16:09, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Woth as in wash, I believe. Oculi (talk) 00:36, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The figures in the text and in the infobox are very different- is there a reason for using two different figures? --▲RedScrees (talk) 14:57, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wath-upon-DearneWath upon Dearne – Per the Ordnance Survey and similar to Bolton upon Dearne and Adwick upon Dearne. The road sign[1] doesn't have hyphens and GENUKI also doesn't. Crouch, Swale (talk) 22:10, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
