It reads like John Henry wrote it. It seems like something written by the Sox front office. It appears that the older page that you redirected took a more NPOV. Instead of contributing to it, you redirected it. If any issues arise please leave a message on my talk. Yanksox 15:35, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Proposal

I didn't think there was an article on Wally, and I wrote this one before finding Wally (mascot). Wally (mascot) was a two or three sentance stub, and this article was an expansion of it, so I see no reason why we needed both. How was the stub neutral, what specifically isn't neutral in this article. Tell me what needs attention and I'll rewrite. Màglor 15:44, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

You expand a stub by writing a new article? That seems a little bizzarre. You could have changed Wally and then redirected this to that.

That is not an encloypedily (I wish I could spell) written. You also stated that you are a diehard Sox fan (which I am, too) but it seems like you are exessivley defending this. It is very frightening when you consider the things that are happening from the front office recently. Wally the stub was neutral. I'm not trying to talk down upon what you put. In fact, I'm glad you created a page and added a picture. It's just that the incident involving when Wally was first introduced and his description could use improvement on BOTH articles. Besides, I like this heading MUCH better and this could become a solid article. I'm removing NPOV and replacing with a construction tag. Yanksox 16:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Overhaul

I made some significant edits to the page. My main goal was to separate fact from fiction; that is to say, I wanted to make sure the reader knows both the factual information regarding the mascot and the fictional story behind him and how to distinguish between the two. "Biography" reversion

As I mentioned at User_talk:Hoopydink, I don't remotely understand that person's reversion. A subject header, "Biography (from the Red Sox promotions department)" seems an extremely non-standard way to set off quoted and fictional material; if anything, it absolutely blurs the distinction between fiction and reality by presenting the "biography" as fact instead of for what it is, marketing copy from the Red Sox. I agree it's interesting that they made up this story about 1947, but it shouldn't be presented as anything other than quoted material (unless it isn't a direct quote, in which case it should be rewritten to make it clearer it's fiction). i added a new section on the rivalry, needs a little sprucing up, feel free to tweak it a bit

Overhauled with Permission

This page was re-done on 5/16/2012 with authorization from the Boston Red Sox Mascot Program. It was intended to clean up the overall appearance and provide a more up-to date depiction of Wally as a character on the whole. Pictures provided were from my own personal files and have permission to be used. Green Monster (wall)

In the Wikipedia entry on the wall for which Wally is named, its height is given as 37 feet 2 inches. In the introduction here the height is given as 37 feet 6 inches. This should be resolved. Dick Kimball (talk) 12:57, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

All Star Game Mascot Home Run Derby Champion

Wally was the 2011 All Star Game Mascot Home Run Derby Champion, and looks to repeat
despite T.C. Bear and Raymond's claims to having the 2012 title already in the bag.
