Redirect or new

edit

This page has been undergoing something of an edit war recently. It was originally created as a redirect to Westinghouse Air Brake Company, but was then rewritten as a page for another entity called WABCO Holdings (alternatively WABCO Automotive Products). WABCO Holdings emerged as a separate company as the original Westinghouse Air Brake Company was acquired and sold off, and so the redirect is not precisely proper. However, the page that has been created in place of the redirect is basically spam. I believe a new article is in order, but not the spam page that has been provided. Anyone care to take a shot at it? If not, this page should probably be deleted as the redirect is not really correct. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:56, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • After having a quick look on their website, a stand-alone article would probably be the best way to go. I've made a start on it in my sandbox, although I've never actually written an article on this subject before. If anyone wants to expand on it before placing it on this page permanently, please feel free to do so. Bettia (rawr!) 16:32, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
There was another article here some months ago, but it was deleted as a copyright violation. The redirect is correct in that the other company was also called WABCO, and they have a shared history. I wonder if a new article might be called either WABCO Automotive Products or WABCO Holdings. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 15:02, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Page move

edit

Could this page be moved to WABCO Vehicle Control Systems (ie the actual company name) - since WABCO is also the name of the predecessor, and really should redirect to Westinghouse Air Brake CompanyFengRail (talk) 01:04, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ignore that - I realised a disambigation page is obviously needed.FengRail (talk) 02:38, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think you were right the first time. WABCO should redirect to the original company, as both the following are successors, and are linked clearly from Westinghouse Air Brake Company#See also

  1. WABCO Vehicle Control Systems (the red links WABCO Automotive Products and WABCO Holdings are affiliates in this group)
  2. Wabtec
