Crusader III
editThe intake definitely was of fixed geometry which is why it was raked and far forward. I dont know who thought it was "complex and variable"
- According to Green, W (2001). The Great Book of Fighters. MBI Publishing. ISBN 0-7603-1194-3.

suggested) (help), the F8U-3 had a variable geometry inlet. - BillCJ 19:48, 24 December 2006 (UTC)- Perhaps they meant the bypass-doors? They were variable position.AVKent882 (talk) 06:58, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Its a Ferri type, similar to the one used on the F-105 albeit larger.
It had manually controlled bypass doors.
Performance
editIs there a specific corroborating source of the max speed? The reference I have read on the delivered aircraft examples written by one of its NASA test pilots suggests a max speed of only Mach 2.38. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.158.1.166 (talk) 22:07, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Datalink
editWas the datalink mentioned to carry out automatic intercepts like the F-102/F-106? Or was it to fly them more like the F4H-1/F-4B (e.g = in which the pilot flew towards the target being told where to go, locking the target up himself and shooting)?
