If virchow's triad leads to VENOUS thrombosis then how can ATHERESCLEROSIS (an arterial) be a contributing factor? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Henryshepherd24 (talkcontribs) 23:36, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

As far as i know, virchow's triad affects arteries also, not just veins. Administrator Jr. (talk) 13:56, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi my name is nicolas bourdon, I just wanted to submit you this other factor favoring thrombus:

  • atherosclerosis
  • prolonged immobilization, varicose veins, extrinsic compression of the vein, heart failure, atrial fibrillation (in this case the blood pools in the atria) ...
  • thrombophilie (antithrombine, protein C, protein S), antiphospholipides syndroms.
  • some contracpetiv pills

Each factor would be favoring one of the virchow triade category.
