X-ray quiescent, and no supernova
editThe 2024 in science lists this as one of the years important discoveries, in that the apparently, the black hole formed without going supernova, and that collapse happened via emission of neutrinos. The French version of this article notes that the BH is X-ray quiet, i.e. that it formed in a way that did not spew a lot of garbage in all directions, and did not disrupt its partner star.
