Mitochondrial haplogroup distribution

edit

This is a good, informative article, but the information on haplogroup distribution is misleading. It states that "the Hualapai is the only modern group that carries both lineages found at Upward Sun River", which is patently false; B2 is found all over the New World and C1b, though much patchier and relatively rare north of Mexico, is also very widely distributed, so they must overlap in many populations. For instance, the Shuswap of British Columbia (considerably closer to Alaska than the Hualapai) have both B2 and C1b. Numbers like "6 tribes" or "37 tribes" are quite meaningless out of context. I am going to remove these statements and replace them with more general and accurate phrasing. 70.75.233.253 (talk) 00:46, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I agree: after doing a bit more research, I've noticed that the relevant Haplogroups are a lot more widespread, especially in South America - I've removed the bad information. Thanks! Fraenir (talk) 07:16, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
