English name of institution

The official English name of the institution is University of South-Eastern Norway

I have personally requested why this was done and the administration has posted the following update on this on the internal part of their website (available for students and employees only – this is in Norwegian):

Hvorfor "South-Eastern" er det mange som spør om. Her er svaret. Når det gjelder South-Eastern er dette sjekket ut, se eks. Cambridge dictionary, der dette brukes med referanse til en region:https://dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/east-or-eastern-north-or-northern?q=East+or+eastern%3B+north+or+northern Når det gjelder «southeastern» vs. «south-eastern» varierer bruken av dette, men det er besluttet at vi bruker South-Eastern med bindestrek, blant annet fordi dette er vanlig bruk på britisk engelsk og fordi dette harmonerer med Helse sørøst sitt engelske navn.

They refer to the Cambridge dictionary and British English use. So this is an intentional change and the official spelling. ozean (talk) 12:15, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

The only "official name" is the Norwegian name, strictly speaking. Wikipedia doesn't necessarily use "official names", but common names, so the name here will depend on that. The institution was until recently known in English as the University College of Southeast Norway, and there is, from a linguistic perspective, no particular reason to change that to the more clumsy South-Eastern Norway in English, cf.
