editAm I the only one not understanding the term "flat image format"? --85.224.6.48 07:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I've written code to process this format before and I'm not too certain what it refers to. It could mean that as opposed to earlier Mac image formats, this format commonly has no resource fork, all the metadata being stored in the data fork (see the manpage for hdiutil with particular reference to flatten and unflatten). It could also refer to the fact that images are flat structures that includes whatever raw data is on a physical disk without bothering to include an organized structure for files and folders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.132.199.166 (talk) 08:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- This is not the same as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Universal Image Format (2nd nomination), or?--Gunnex (talk) 17:48, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- UDIF is not "UIF", whatever that is. It's the most common format for Apple's .dmg files (which can be any of several different, really unrelated, file formats) --71.236.164.204 (talk) 22:30, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
