1985?

edit

Was this a pro-Trump float since 1985? Or maybe a motorcycle trailer then? ☆ Bri (talk) 02:25, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Bri: The float was not always Trump-related. How should we update the prose? According to The Detroit News, "Cortis has owned the bridge since 1985 and originally envisioned it would serve as the backdrop for wedding celebrations and photographs." ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:52, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think I get it ... once a freestanding bridge, now a float. See what you think of my copyedit spree. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:04, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Bri: Thanks. I admit, the bridge vs. float vs. trailer usage is a bit confusing, so clarification helps. ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:13, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
There's actually a motorcycle strapped down to the "trailer" in the lede image, I had missed it before. A Harley, I suppose (American made). Whether for decoration, a symbol of American manufacturing prowess, or to demonstrate regulatory compliance I have no idea.
Another oddity in he pictures - in the third one you can see a plaque that says "FLAG / NATION / GOD" but the canonical order is just about reverse, God / Family / Country [1]. Meaningful?? ☆ Bri (talk) 04:08, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Don't forget the "1" in front of all three words, so "one flag", "one nation", and "one God". ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:14, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh wow, I saw that and thought it was mounting hardware. So that is quoting a particularly controversial statement made by candidate Trump on more than one occasion. See NPR or WaPo. Might be worth including in the article. The motorcycle is in hat one too, with someone on the saddle behind "drain the swamp". ☆ Bri (talk) 05:19, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Timeline

edit

The current timeline may need to be converted from a bulleted list to prose, but at least for now we can piece together parts of the tour. ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:10, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Issues with this sentence

edit

A few issues with the following sentence: 'Due to is haphazard construction, the contraption is often referred to as a "rattle-trap" as it's schlepped all over the state of Michigan'

- No citation - who's called it a 'rattle trap'

- NPOV: should refer to 'the float' not 'the contraption'

- Why is reference made to 'the state of Michigan' specifically?

If no one can give a citation at least, I'm going to delete it. Guntherklog (talk) 12:30, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
