first lieutenant?
editDuring that war, he was promoted to first lieutenant for his performance in the battles of Contreras and Churubusco?
BUT: Bvt. Captain, Aug. 20, 1847, for Gallant and Meritorious Conduct in the Battles of Contreras and Churubusco, Mex. link (muhranoff) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.80.143.137 (talk) 09:50, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- The discrepancy between the two is due to him receiving a brevet rank of captain for the activities mentioned and a regular promotion to first lieutenant six days later. I have clarified this in the article. Mojoworker (talk) 21:18, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
