I notice there's no real information here about the actual backstory/concept of the game... if no one else adds it soon, I'll start working on that. Hossenfeffer 03:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Designers' Demise

edit

I own a copy of the second edition rulebook, and it mentions the war with Lucifier as the cause of The Designers' destruction; therefore it is not a new addition to the history of setting. Bear Eagleson

  • Thanks. First Edition didnt mention Lucifer, but I made the changes as Second is the main focus of the article.Allegrorondo

I've got my second edition copy open in front of me (dated Febuary 1990). According to it Lucifer (or rather "Lightbearer") didn't cause the destruction of the Designers but instead survived it. The actual cause is said to be Appolyon, aka "The Destroyer". Both Lightbeaer and The Destroyer were modified sophonts from worlds within the Designer's sphere of influence. Appolyon was created to be the living monument to the Designer's civilisation but proved psychologically unsuited to the task, instead naming himself The Destroyer and single handedly wiping out the Designers. Lightbearer was a homosapien who had been modified, as an experiment, in a simular fashion to Appolyon but not to the same degree. When The Destroyer shattered the habitat where Lightbearer and his family were held all the other homosapiens there died while Lightbearer's implanted matrix transported him away. Appolyon and Lightbearer then fought a long TimeWar which eventually led to Appolyon's defeat and imprisonment. PlanetNiles
