“The IDF ordered residents of 21 villages in Lebanon to…”
editI don’t think a country’s military can give orders in other countries to citizens of those countries that aren’t citizens of the former. Maybe replace with a simple “told” or “directed”? ReaderOfSci-FiNovelsAndPhilosophy (talk) 15:18, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
Ad verbatim Liveblog
editI have no beef against Al Jazeera but editors really should start exercising due diligence and stop treating this article as an ad verbatim dumping ground for the latest from their liveblog, especially if we have contradictory reports of 2, 5 and 7 rockets being launched by Hezbollah/Hamas in one day without reconciling them and then make statements of them issuing warnings and bombing the same place in one paragraph, much more the tendency of some editors to WP:QUOTEFARM. At the rate this article might be filled up with bugs by the end of the month without a breakthrough event. Borgenland (talk) 15:06, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. Pachu Kannan (talk) 15:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- The article now has tons of bugs. As the editor primarily responsible for this I suggest you perform the cleanup. Borgenland (talk) 13:48, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Pretty sure we're out of luck if an editor's go-to response is "ok" and the follow-up is dead silence.
- This page is pretty much Al Jazeera 24/7 propaganda, wouldn't be surprised if some editors were even employees. It is what it is, take everything with a pitcher of salt. 2603:9008:2101:E2F3:F5C2:9085:8CA5:353B (talk) 17:29, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Is there somewhere else this discussion can be taken to? Because this is getting way out of hand now, there's more than 1,000,000 bytes on this page now. Procyon117 (talk) 14:28, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- We definitely do NOT need to list every single thing that happens. Procyon117 (talk) 14:30, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've been trying to trim recurring mentions of humanitarian crises not as a cold-blooded bloke but for the fact that the overall condition has been prevalent throughout. And I am wary of including settler violence, which is a WP:ROUTINE matter even before this war started. Borgenland (talk) 10:58, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Also, I am raising concern about content from Timeline of the Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–present) being needlessly duplicated to this article. Borgenland (talk) 10:59, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

Splitting proposal
editI propose that the November section be split into another article titled Timeline of the Israel–Hamas war (1 November 2024 – present). This would then be moved into Timeline of the Israel–Hamas war (27 September 2024 – 31 October 2024). The page is currently 30k words, which is too much. The template {{Timeline of the Israel–Hamas war}} will also be edited accordingly. Thoughts! Pinging @Borgenland @Pachu Kannan @Achmad Rachmani @Durranistan @ThePaganUK ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:54, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Is there a watershed event though that could further justify this split? Borgenland (talk) 10:56, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Borgenland Nothing in my mind for now, perhaps you can suggest something? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 11:01, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- A weak inclination towards Killing of Yahya Sinwar. Borgenland (talk) 11:02, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Borgenland Not bad. Anything related to Hezbollah or Lebanon? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 11:28, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'd be inclined to remove Lebanon as @Pachu Kannan simply duplicates content from its dedicated page. Borgenland (talk) 11:59, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Content added by me related to Timeline of the Israel–Hezbollah conflict (17 September 2024 – present) is normally duplicated from this page to that page. The only exception is mainly content added by Chomik1129. Pachu Kannan (talk) 12:34, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon can be also used as a breakthrough event. But it will be too short.Pachu Kannan (talk) 12:45, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

- I think that Killing of Yahya Sinwar can be used as a breakthrough event for justifying the split. Can we also split Timeline of the Israel–Hezbollah conflict (17 September 2024 – present). Pachu Kannan (talk) 12:41, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

- i support the proposal, I think October 1 would be the start of the new article since two important events happened which is the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and True Promise 2 Durranistan (talk) 13:34, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Borgenland thoughts? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:41, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- 1 October is quite long still. Borgenland (talk) 14:01, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Borgenland thoughts? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:41, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ok then, I see no objection to take Killing of Yahya Sinwar as a split. @Borgenland @Pachu Kannan one final confirmation? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:56, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- I support it. Pachu Kannan (talk) 12:58, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support. But also need consensus from other editors. Borgenland (talk) Borgenland (talk) 13:04, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Guess I have enough support, going ahead. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:31, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

- Now that the split is over, should the original title, Timeline of the Israel–Hamas war (27 September 2024 – present) be linked to this or the new page. Timeline of the Israel–Hamas war is another option. @Borgenland @Durranistan @Pachu Kannan. (Sorry if the pings seem excessive!) ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:56, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think that second option is the best. Pachu Kannan (talk) 16:06, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Best to see precedent on mother article. Borgenland (talk) 16:12, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
