Continuation of plot from Fools Die?

In some ways the Last Don is a continuation of some of the plot lines from Fools Die. Albert Gronevelt still in control of Hotel Xanadu, still a thread between the Santadio and the hotel (before the great Clericuzio / Santadio War?).
