Irish novelist?

edit

Am I misreading the article to think she is not a citizen of Ireland, but of the United States (where she was born, and where I guess her father was from) and Italy (where I guess her mother was from)? It seems odd to call someone an "Irish novelist" with no further qualification when they are not a citizen of Ireland, even if they've lived in Ireland for a long time. Or is the situation that her father is Irish and she has Irish citizenship alongside U.S. and Italian citizenship? That should be clarified, if so, and I don't think it makes sense to use "dual citizenship" for someone with three different citizenships.` john k (talk) 23:44, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Witch Elm

edit

I question the motives behind this addition to French's page. It appears to be advance publicity for a book that won't be published for six months, if the October 2018 publication date is accurate. It contains a detailed plot description which must have come from the publisher. There are no references to third party reactions to the book. So I suspect it came from the publisher, publicist or author's agent. Isn't there some guideline forbidding creation of entries that by people who are paid to do so? Is it appropriate to use Wikipedia for purely promotional purposes? I know that publishers and authors need to publicize their books, but is Wikipedia really the place to do that? The creator, Panderson458, has no user page. Her/his contributions seem to be mostly about authors. I wonder who that person is - her agent? publicist for the publisher?
