A pox on both your houses, Moe and SPUI! Will you two stop battling like children and let the writers of the Florida State Roads articles do their writing? I didn't exactly appreciate it when SPUI flexed his ego in the middle of the night and made wholesale moves without touching base with any of the other writers in this "project." Furthermore, it is only SPUI who thinks that the State Road xx (Florida) nonsense is actually A) correct, and B) the most "user friendly" way to organize the information. But the job was done, and I was willing to "live with it" no matter how wrong it was (SPUI, I'm not going to address how wrong your deletion spree was, either). So, boys, if you want assistance in the Florida State Roads project (formal or informal), I'd suggest you two stop your tug-of-war and settle on one method - and I, as one who has contributed dozens of articles within the FSR system, prefer Florida State Road XXX as (semi-)mentioned in the Wikipedia naming conventions, for that is the more "organic" method. SUNSET ROAD signs

edit

To clarify the part that says the signs in Coral Gables say Sunset Road. Only one sign remains that still says Sunset Road. It's at a minor traffic light about a quarter of a mile past 57t Ave. (the next light after 57th) all other sinage along Sunset is marked with the numbers SW 72 street. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DingoateMyBabyyy (talkcontribs) 14:52, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sunset Drive History

edit

While I think I've added enough to the Route description and Major junctions section to at least warrant a C-class rating for this article (more of a C-, I guess), I don't think I can really add much to the History section of the article without local knowledge, hence the call-out for expert attention. I think there's a lot of things that could be expanded with this section, including:

  • A citation to the Laws of Florida 96-430 that enacted the "Marjory Stoneman Douglas Sunset Drive" name (as I don't know how to cite U.S./Florida law);
  • Why and when the road started to be called "Sunset Drive" instead of its numerical name;
  • When the road was granted its SR 986 designation;
  • Verification and reasons as to the SR 986 truncation (why outside of the Kendall/Sunset/Glenvar Heights CDP's?); and
  • Any (verifiable!) future plans involving Sunset Drive.

Please feel free to discuss additions here or be bold and add them directly to the article. -DyluckTRocket (talk) 11:17, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
