um, what about the physical sun dial?
I don't need to learn about some fuckin punk band!!
- Well, for starters, it would help if you would learn how to spell "sundial" correctly. —Psychonaut 01:32, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Requested move
editSun Dial (band) → Sun Dial … Rationale: This page was originally at Sun Dial but was moved to Sun Dial (band) on 7 March, ostensibly to disambiguate it from the astronomical instrument sundial. I request it be moved back for these reasons: (1) The OED, Merriam-Webster, and other dictionaries give sundial and sun-dial as the only spellings of the astronomical instrument. (2) The band is spelled with a capital D, so even if someone searches for sun dial they could be redirected to sundial. (3) Both Sun Dial and sundial had top-of-page disambiguation links to each other before the page move, and will continue to have them. —Psychonaut 22:41, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

- Support. Well, I suppose "Sun Dial" is a bit of a nothing spelling for sundial, who in their right mind will think of spelling it with the second capital? Though I have never heard of the band Sun Dial either. Skinnyweed 16:37, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose will add to confusion. Just because you don't look it up in the dictionary that way, doesn't mean people don't spell it that way. 132.205.45.110 18:19, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- True, but a good descriptive dictionary like the OED or M-W will list the most common variant spellings. And "Sun Dial" is not a common variant spelling of "sundial". "Sun dial" maybe, but not "Sun Dial". —Psychonaut 21:07, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've moved it back.
