Sthanakvasi → Sthānakavāsī – This article was living over 10 years under this proposed more appropriate and consistent name, per this change. However, earlier this year this change was reverted in this change. The rationale is unclear, as I was unable to find any documentation on this change. Requesting a discussion and a potential renaming per International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration used in other articles on Jainism. I have changed the label of the Wikidata item accordingly. - Oppose. Since English language does not contain accents or diacritics, transliterations into English from languages that do not use the Latin alphabet likewise should not contain any marks that are not part of English. A simple google search confirms that other sources, such as Britannica, likewise dispense with diacritics. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 19:59, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Support for consistency with countless other Jainism-related articles (Śvetāmbara, etc.), and also because we use Sanskrit forms for Jain terms, not Hindi forms. — kashmīrī TALK 22:12, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Support. The diacritics increase accuracy and legibility for readers who understand their meanings, while not hindering legibility for other readers. Dekimasuよ! 02:54, 14 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
