Merge from St. Andrew
editI think it's like the other disambiguation pages on the St. Andrew page; wherever they wind up, it seems we should not have two lists of schools. B.S. Lawrence (talk) 17:39, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- ... and while adding the proposal here I note the comment:
so while we're talking about merge why to we have two of those lists? B.S. Lawrence (talk) 17:45, 19 December 2008 (UTC)<!-- note that there is also a St. Andrew's Episcopal School disambig page that may need to be updated -->
- Merge done. Neither page is a "list" in the strict sense on Wikipedia. Both are disambiguation pages, and serve to disambiguate distinct terms. --MegaSloth (talk) 10:19, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks 'Sloth, that's excellent! I didn't mean lists in the wiki sense; I should have said "categories". I notice that some of the items on the 'episcopal' page were also on this page, so I took them off here. Sorry if that's not the right thing to do, but if it was then I think everything I was worried about here is done. -- B.S. Lawrence (talk) 19:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- You're right it's not ideal to have them repeated, however the problem is that one could reasonably leave the "Episcopal" out of the name, and probably people often do; the criterion for inclusion in a DAB page is a "Wikipedia article to which that word or phrase might be expected to lead". I think of this as "with a generous interpretation, could the article reasonably be placed at this name?"
- Another alternative would be to make the "Episcopal" page a link to here; the problem with that is, the entries the person is actually looking for are buried in amongst a shed load of other entries. I did consider the issue and decided to leave them both in as this is the most intuitive for people who are searching, as opposed to those compiling. If we take them out, I think we need a "see also" hatnote, but that leaves the question, will the searcher realise the school is "Episcopal"?
- I think this question is borderline, however I do feel most comfortable with my original arrangement. If you're still uncomfortable with the idea, I suggest we request some more opinions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation. --MegaSloth (talk) 23:48, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

- Works for me. I'll yield to you on this one. -- B.S. Lawrence (talk) 19:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
