IMDB

edit

Is IMDB a valid source to say that Sportacus' name comes from The Simpsons? Isn't IMDB also user-edited? Kat, Queen of Typos 02:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the speculation for now. See WP:Reliable sources#Bulletin boards, wikis and posts to Usenet Kat, Queen of Typos 09:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Could his name possibly come from Spartacus, the gladiator? This might not have rung true with the Icelandic name however... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leemorrison (talkcontribs) 22:27, 10 December 2006 (UTC).Reply
That would be the obvious, but until we get info from a reliable source on where the name originated, we can't really put it in the article. Kat, Queen of Typos 23:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I thought it was a kinda portmanteau on "Sport" and "Spartacus", or just "Sport" being extended to sound like a person's name. Aurora sword 01:33, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

- Indeed it is. The Simpsons thing probably came from joining both words, too. It was a sports shop in an episode I can't remember, I think that's just a coincidence. --201.228.205.76 (talk) 21:44, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Race

edit

Is his race human or elf? I remember Robby making several comments referring to Sportacus as an elf "...that blue elf". Was it ever established that he was an elf? His ears are always covered and his eyes are pretty blue. That and the magic crystal and possibly coming from the north. But all this is just speculation. -G —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.117.158.83 (talk) 05:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article states that in the original Icelandic production, Sportacus's name was the Icelandic equivalent of "Athletic Elf," and although Robbie constantly refers to him as "That Blue Elf" in LazyTown, I don't think whether he is a human(superhuman) or elf is ever actually stated in the show. It is, however, implied that he is in fact not an elf in the episode, "Sportacus Who?" when Sportacus gets offended after Robbie misinforms him that the children like to call him "The Blue Elf" behind his back. Sportacus 9

edit

Sportacus 9 redirects here. Someone care to explain (i.e., add a mention of it in the article)? - dcljr (talk) 03:26, 22 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

The nine has to do with the background history of LazyTown. As Stephanie is the only child that was not raised in LazyTown, she tried to get the other kids, which where at that point very lazy, to be more outgoing. When that failed, she found a book mentioning an previous character which also was called sportacus (I think his number was 12), which gave her the idea of sending a message to sportacus in the first place. This story is present in the icelandic books published prior to the television series and should be somewhat present in the LazyTown Live shows.--Snaevar (talk) 22:51, 4 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism?

edit

There's this section of the article claiming the character served in the Gulf War and is war criminal. I assuming this is some kind of troll. Michael Sieger (talk) 03:58, 9 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
