South Of Sunset - Miscellaneous Facts
editThe producers of SoS had difficulty casting the male lead. It was only after Paramount execs saw Frey in concert, and recalled his previous acting experience, that they suggested him for the role of Cody McMahon. Pitillo was hired because of her collaboration with the Rogow/Byrum team on the Middle Ages project. She became involved in SoS early on in the development of the show, and read with other actors who were auditioning for the lead. Spears was hired on shortly after Pitillo. He too read with other actors auditioning for the part of McMahon. He was 18 or 19 years old at the time. [1]
Development problems, particularly with the pilot, continued pushing back the shows premiere date. This significantly impacted the shows potential audience and ratings, as well prevented critics the opportunity to pre-screen the show. Rogow later lamented the fact that executives did not provide one of the other episodes to critics for review.[2]
Introduction
editWhile this show may be of low importance to end viewers, SoS is significant because of the issues raised by industry people after the single episode cancellation. I have a substantial amount of raw data regarding the show. I have copies of the five episodes that aired on VH-1 back in 1994. They are also all available on Youtube at this time. I'll do the same here as I did on a couple of other articles I am working on, and drop items on the talk page to see if anyone can help me expand on them. The imdb.com entry for South of Sunset appears to have transposed Episode One: Satyricon, and Episode Two: Dream Girl. The cast information and plot synopses have been transposed. Djfitzgerald111 (talk) 23:26, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
imdb.com entries are far from complete, but do appear in the right order. For some reason, reviewers are critiquing Episode Two, not Episode One. Djfitzgerald111 (talk) 14:34, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

editI worked on this article some time ago, and put it on the back burner. Frey's death brought it back to the forefront again. I spent most of the day on this, and I think I hit the major points. I've seen all five aired episodes and have them all backed up on video. I will continue to work on this page, and any source material would be welcomed.
