Somerville is not a part of greater Melbourne and therefore cannot be a suburb of it.
- It is part of the Shire of Mornington Peninsula, which according to both Local Government Victoria and the ABS is part of Greater Melbourne (as is the Shire of Cardinia which takes in areas as far away as Koo Wee Rup and Lang Lang) - I personally disagree with the definition, however, there is no other verifiable way to define Melbourne (it's the problem of our eternally sprawling and expanding cities - I'm from Perth which keeps having arguments about whether Rockingham and Mandurah, a similar distance away as Somerville, should be counted - DLG counts Rockingham but not Mandurah even though there's no separation.)
