Chronology
editUnder 'Publication history' is 'Pym initially wrote Some Tame Gazelle in 1934 while studying at St Hilda's College, Oxford. Under 'Characters' is 'Two months after she had begun work on the first draft in 1934, Barbara Pym noted in her diary that 'Some time in July I began writing a story about Hilary and me as spinsters of fiftyish.' Pym did her final exams in June 1934, so it looks as though she started to write the book shortly after completing her studies, not 'while studying'. Snugglepuss (talk) 18:28, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Byrne's biography records that Pym's diary says 'Sometime in July I began writing a story about Hilary and me as spinsters....'. This was after her trip to Germany which followed the end of her studies. Sbishop (talk) 09:17, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
