editOk so I created this article as a detailed description of the Shang's practitioners. The main artcle about the religion, I have deleted some information and place them here. Strongman13072007 (talk) 15:28, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for creating this @Strongman13072007, and nice work so far. Some notes:
- Citations always go after punctuation on the English Wikipedia. At the moment, this article does not do so
- Page numbers for books citations are essential; for journal articles they are less necessary but still beneficial
- It is best to used published material. At the moment you are using Robert Eno's classroom notes for teaching; this is OK since Eno is a subject-matter expert, but it would be much, much, better use an actual publication of his.

Big erase
editI think outlining main types of Shang religious practitioners is fine. Why did someone erased all of them? Strongman13072007 (talk) 09:26, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Many things in the erased section are very important in this topic, and I think I used fair sources that are free content. @Diannaa you shouldn't have done such a big erase like that. I think only Keightley's account at the section's beginning may be removed. Strongman13072007 (talk) 09:35, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have restored most of what I removed. It was accidental. I meant to remove only the large quotation. Sorry for the mistake. — Diannaa (talk) 11:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, and thanks for restoring the necessary parts. Strongman13072007 (talk) 11:47, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

edit@Remsense After getting done with the larger page on the religion itself, I think it's time to take a look at this. I know this doesn't look good enough, but I don't have enough time to do a thorough revision. So I think you can turn to this when possible. The sources are mostly taken from the religion article, btw. Strongman13072007 (talk) 08:06, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Sacrifices
editSacrifices are probably the second-best well-known feature of the Shang religion. Someone must have performed these sacrifices, and they would by definition be religious practitioners. Right now the article says doesn't mention them at all, do we know anything about them? Alaexis¿question? 16:22, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, sacrifices are well known, but so far materials I have only concern :
- 1. The five types of regular sacrifices and other irregular ones;
- 2. Things sacrificed;
- 3. Methods of sacrifices.
- Even (3) only refers to the actions by which things were offered themselves, not the ones who conducted it. It also appears to me that the Shang often wrote 'we will sacrifice (something)' but not saying who exactly. Strongman13072007 (talk) 23:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense hi there, would you mind checking this article a bit? Strongman13072007 (talk) 12:46, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Alaexis Do you have such literature concerning this aspect, btw? Strongman13072007 (talk) 12:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I don't. I have rather superficial knowledge of the Chinese history. The only thing that comes to mind is Li Shuo's Revelation - I read a review of it somewhere and it made me want to read it in full but then it turned out it's not yet translated. No idea if it mentions practitioners though. Alaexis¿question? 20:28, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
