LANGUAGES represents the ethnical composition

edit

The ethnicities are represented by the languages that are spoken in Sar-i-Pul. Uzbeks are bi-lingual with Uzbeki as primerly language, Pashtuns are bi-lingual with Pashtu as main language and Tajiks and Hazaras speak only Persian which is spoken by more than just 50% of the population. --188.107.8.213 (talk) 13:02, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Verification for "ethnic cleansing of Pashtuns"?

edit

I excised this portion since its "[4]" text makes it pretty clear it was cut-pasted from some other version, so the footnotes are currently lost and I'm not easily finding the original, presumably sourced version. We've had overall issues with a few key editors pushing a pro-Pashtun narrative in Northern Afghanistan articles. If it's properly sourced, no objections, but it does appear to be part of some agenda-pushing and bears watching.

From 2001 to 2005, Tajiks, Aimak-Tajiks and Aimak-Hazaras along with Uzbeks have led looting and killing attacks against Pashtuns and Kuchis. Many thousands of Pashtuns were expelled from the region and their villages were taken by their militias who settled their own families and relatives there[5]. During the Soviet occupation, the Soviets used local militias in Sar-i-Pol (as well as in Nuristan) to get rid of Pashtuns by Tajiks, Uzbeks and Turkmen[6], which caused many Pashtun refugees and rape victims.

Waiting until we can figure out the sourcing. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:59, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
