Rumor of Arrival at Alang
editThe website originally cited for the claim that Independence was at Alang has now changed its story, and is claiming that the Independence is laid up at Dubai as of May 17. I have changed the article to reflect this. Mgy401 1912 (talk) 17:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Tidying up the article
editI went through the ship names and changed them as instructed in the WikiProject Ships Guidelines, i.e. names in italic, prefix (SS) only when the ship is introduced. I changed the introductory paragraphs etc. to past tense as the ship was wrecked off Alang and, while not officially declared total loss, will be scrapped on the spot ([1]). I also slightly rewrote it, splitting the paragraph between operational era and the later years. I moved DWT from displacement to tonnage as deadweight tonnage is not a measure of the ship's displacement. I also changed the headings.
Still, I'm not very good at working on other people's text, so someone, perhaps a native English speaker, should read everything through. The section about the final journey to the breakers may require some working and cleanup. Tupsumato (talk) 11:06, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
