Picture of Prothallus
editAdded a picture of the Lomariopsis prothallus in question, taken with a Samsung Galaxy S3. This aquatic fern is sold worldwide and is now available in Lima pet stores (Lima, Peru); so I figured I would upload a picture of one of my specimens to aid readers in identifying this plant. By all means, please replace it with a higher-quality picture if anyone out there should have one. Thanks all, and thanks to the original author for this very important article. Little discussion of L. lineata in text
editI don't think it's right that this page focuses mostly on the Susswassertang when there is uncertainty on whether it is in fact the same species as L. lineata. I think the page should be restructured so that it has a large Susswassertang segment after the one discussing "true", sporophyte-developing Lomariopsis lineata. After all, Susswassertang is Lomariopsis cf. lineata at best. Anthropophoca (talk) 03:13, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- I would encourage you to find some good sources on the subject and expand the article! Mbdfar (talk) 09:32, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- And for what it's worth, the reason for my choice to expand this page as L. lineata comes from Kasselmann's 2020 treatment of the species. I followed her judgement as she was the discoverer and is an authority on aquatic plants in her own right. Although Li et al. 2009 left a thread of ambiguity, Kasselmann does not.
