Apocryphal info concerning original nomination

edit

I don't know if it was at the Conservative leadership nomination or at an earlier MLA nomination, but the story goes that McBride was exhorted to run by backers in the back of the hall who called out to him in the Chinook Jargon and then pulled him aside to talk things over in the same language, which was known to most long-time residents of BC. The reason they did this was to "cut out" the non-BCers in the room from what it was they wanted to say. I don't have the cite on this but will add it to the article when I do.Skookum1 04:31, 25 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

detailed onlin bio

edit

Richard McBride chapter in Howay & Scholefield, pp5-6 - DJvu link, also available in PDF see [1]. Individual pages are not linkable in DJvu or PDF. This is a near-official contemporary biography, and much more thorough (and likely without hte same kind of errors) as the Canadian Biography Online site.Skookum1 (talk) 14:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
